This Gorilla Trekking Rwanda & Chimps Tour begins after your flight‘s arrival at Kigali Airport in the morning where you will be welcomed and transferred to your accommodation, you can enjoy a guided Kigali city tour and visit some interesting, historical sites, including the Kigali Memorial Centre. Your safari guide will meet you at your hotel or at the Kigali International airport and drive you to the Nyungwe Forest National Park on your second day of the gorilla trekking Rwanda safari. Along your journey you will visit Nyanza, the former Mwami’s (King’s) as well as the National Museum at Butare; one the finest ethnographic museums in East Africa. After lunch you will continue driving south to the Nyungwe Forest National Park where you will have the chance to see a variety of wildlife living in the forest. The Chimpanzee Trekking Rwanda tour’s third day starts after breakfast and then spend this morning on an amazing primate walk in search of the habituated chimpanzees in Nyungwe Forest, chimpanzee tracking. You will have the best opportunity to encounter humankind’s closest living relative in the early morning hours. This time will also give you a higher chance to encounter other animals and bird species in this park. In the afternoon you will return to the lodge for lunch. In the evening you will take off on a canopy walk where you will view different animal species and beautiful landscape. After an early morning breakfast, we continue to Lake Kivu, Gisenyi, and the largest lake in Rwanda and located amid mountains and green hills. In the afternoon, you will drive to Gisenyi in Rubavu via Kibuye Road. During this drive, you will have the opportunity to see Lake Kivu and the daily lives of the people who have lived in this countryside for centuries, virtually unchanged. This is a very scenic route and provides the opportunity to see the people at work – cultivating bananas, cassava, sorghum, beans, rice, potatoes and even coffee in their steep and tiny fields. In addition, there are several massive tea plantations, villages, innumerable tiny brickworks, and surprises around every corner. Arrival at Gisenyi and you can go for a boat ride on the lake exploring the small islands and rich birdlife. Gisenyi is the crossing point to the Congo, so you will also have the opportunity to see the town of Goma from this city. Goma was devastated by the eruption of the Nyiragongo volcano. You will be picked up at 5:30 am and take off on a two-hour, picturesque drive to Volcanoes National Park in Musanze province where the gorilla trekking Rwanda tour will deliver on its top highlight. Upon arrival, you will enjoy breakfast and then take off to the park headquarters at Kinigi for a thorough briefing by the park warden. After the briefing, our tour guide will transfer you to the starting point of the gorilla trek. The trek may last anywhere from 1-8 hours depending on the gorillas’ movements. After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the National Park headquarters – Kinigi to meet your guides for the day. This is the gorilla trekking Rwanda tour’s moment of truth, what you’ve been building up-to. After completing our park formalities, we are embarking on a once in a life time experience of tracking mountain gorillas. A thrilling trek through the refined foothills of the Virungas led by an experienced ranger Guide provides inspiring views in all directions. The rainforest is alive with calls of colorful birds and chattering of the rare golden monkey, and besieged with fresh spoor of the mountains’ elusive populations of buffalo and elephant. Gorilla trekking is quite strenuous but a worthwhile on encounter of these gentle giants. Spend time watching gorillas, watch the adults feeding their young ones, brushing and resting as the youngsters play from vines in a pleasurably playful display. Once you spot them you are allowed to spend an hour watching your closest long lost cousin. Return to your hotel for lunch and later maybe Visit Ibyiwacu culture village center then Dinner and overnight at Le bamboo gorilla lodge
After breakfast, you will explore the crater lakes that are situated just outside Volcanoes national park. The twin lakes are Burera and Ruhondo, you will enjoy amazing views and scenery of the Volcanoes Mountains and the lakes. Thereafter transfer to Kigali and continue to the Airport for your international flight.
