Detailed Safari Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival Kigali International Airport

Arrival at Kigali International Airport, meet and greet assistance, you will be warmly welcomed by our company staff for briefing about the safaris then introduction to your driver guide. Transfer to your booked hotel, have dinner and over night at Onomo Hotel Kigali / Ubumwe Grande Hotel Kigali

Day 2.  Kigali City Tour & Transfer to Akagera National Park

with an early breakfast, start the day with a tour of Kigali City where you will explore so much including; museums, local markets, craft centers, genocide memorials grounds and more. Have lunch in Kigali and later embark on a journey to Akagera National Park, arriving at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay at Akagera Game lodge / Akagera Rhino Lodge

Day 3. Full Day Akagera National Park - Game Drives and Launch Cruise

Have breakfast and then go for a game drive where you may spot various wild animals. Return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride on Lake Ihema. While on the boat cruise, you might spot various water animals like the hippos and crocodiles. Dinner and Overnight at Akagera Game lodge / Akagera Rhino Lodge

Day 4. Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park

After Breakfast on the fourth day this amazing safari, you’ll head to southern Rwanda to visit Nyungwe Forest, the chimpanzee’s home. Journey to Nyungwe Forest is stunning beautiful, through terraced hillsides and along the way we will stop to visit the Nyanza Kings palace and the Rwanda National Museum, before we enjoy lunch in Butare. Continue the drive this afternoon through the dramatic landscape of the Nyungwe Forest, arriving at our lodge located in the middle of the Nyungwe Forest. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe top view lodge / Nyungwe Nziza Eco Lodge

Day 5. Chimpanzee Trekking & Canopy Walk - Nyungwe Forest

With an early breakfast we start the drive to Nyungwe forest headquarters for briefing and later start our Chimonzee Trekking experience. The forest is rich in botanical diversity and home to 13 species of primates including Chimpanzees, L’Hoest monkeys, and Columbus monkeys with 300 bird species. You will take a picnic lunch.

Have a relaxed stay before heading for a canopy walk to have an eagle view of Nyungwe forest. Dinner and Overnight at Nyungwe top view lodge / Nyungwe Nziza Eco Lodge

Day 6. Nyungwe Forest – Colobus Tracking OR Waterfall Trails OR Canopy Walk - Transfer to Lake Kivu

Six days in Rwanda today, you have a variety of hikes and excursions to choose from, you can choose to go for an escorted walk in search of the large groups of Colobus monkeys and birds including the Ruwenzori turaco. Perhaps also take a guided walk to the waterfall, and enjoy the spectacular scenery of the forest. Alternatively you can choose to go for a a canopy walk or relax at the lodge, take advantage of the on-site spa services, or catch up on your email with the Wi-Fi service available in all rooms!

After lunch we transfer to Lkae Kivu for a lazy evening. Dinner and Overnight at Kivu Paradise Hotel 

Day 7. Lake Kivu Exploration - Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Start the day at Lesiure with a boat c ruise on Lake Kivu, visit the Napoleon Island and the sorrounding areas before starting the journey to northern province of Rwanda up to the Virunga Volcanoes, Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas. The drive will take approximately 6hours. Dinner and Overnight at Le Bambou gorilla lodge / Mountain gorilla view Lodge 

Day 8. Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Cultural Expoerience

After an early morning breakfast. After a short briefing about dos and don’ts about gorilla trekking at the park headquarter, you will enter forest in search of the gorillas. The trekking may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas in the jungle and your group speed as well. Meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour.  

After then, return to your lodge for lunch, and after lunch, you head for a cultural encounter get an insight of Rwandan culture.  Dinner and Overnight at Le Bambou gorilla lodge / Mountain gorilla view Lodge 

Day 9. Golden Monkey Trekking - Volcanoes National Park

Today after your warm early morning breakfast, you will be picked by our safari driver guide who will transfer for a golden monkey trekking in search for these primates in the jungle. Just like the gorilla trekking experience, the same applies to golden monkey trekking though no so hectic like gorilla trekking. Dinner and Overnight at Le Bambou gorilla lodge / Mountain gorilla view Lodge 

Day 10. Half Day Cycling and Transfer to Kigali For departure.

as we come to an end of the impressive 10 Day Ultimate Rwanda Safari Experience, today we explore the northern province of Rwanda by bike. Lets tour the twin lakes of Burere and Ruhondo as we cycle through communities. Have lunch and later in the evning be transfered to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight.
