13 Days Primates and Wildlife Big 5 Safaris – Uganda & Tanzania

The Primate and Wildlife big 5 safaris is a unique adventure of its own. It guarantees a quality service and an unforgettable vacation. During the safari you get to experience the highlights of Uganda and Tanzania. Combining Mountain Gorillas, Chimpanzees, boat-cruise safari and a guided nature walk in Uganda with game-drives in Lake Manyara, Serengeti and Ngorongoro crater in Tanzania.  Day 1: - Arrival at Entebbe Airport

You will meet our tour guide and transfer to your Hotel in Entebbe to relax and get ready for the adventure starting the next day. Overnight at Papyrus guesthouse Entebbe

Day 2: - Transfer to the crater lakes area by Kibale Forest – Guided nature walk to Crater Lakes and top of the world exploration

With an early breakfast, we transfer to Kibale National Park via the green lush Tea Plantations of the MightyToro region – The area is covered by black tea plantations and various crater lakes which make the drive thrilling as we go closer to the foot of Mountain of the Moon (Mountain Rwenzori). Check in at the lodge and go for the crater lakes exploration with a walk to the top of the world. if you are lucky you might see different species of Monkeys, such as red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies. More in the forest canopy colored aviation creatures-butterflies various bird species like the native Great Blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long tailed cuckoo, the superb black bee eater. Day 3: - Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Guided Nature walk / Community encounter with the locals

Head into the Primate Capital of the world for the early morning Chimpanzee Trekking. This is a three-hour experience. As an option you can upgrade to participating in Chimpanzee habituation, where you get to follow the chimps for the whole day, a truly exclusive experience (this is an optional activity that is not included in the stated price. Inform us when booking if you wish to do the habituation). Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimpanzee close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in their frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you back to the lodge. Relax for lunch and in the afternoon Bigodi nature and community walk. Overnight at Isunga Lodge

Day 4: - Tea Plantation Exploration and Evening Launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth national park

With breakfast at leisure, we explore the tea plantation fields learning more how black tea is grown and harvested. You can take part in plucking the tea leaves which makes the experience more fascinating. Then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Option to drive further southwards with the Rwenzori ranges (Longest in Africa) in view or drive through the Crater lakes in the Hills through to sample out the surprising diversity of Savannah trees and wildlife! In the late evening, we shall take on a boat cruise along the famous Kazinga channel that links lake Edward and George. Look out for the hippos, elephants, buffaloes without forgetting the Nile crocodile and many water birds like the pied kingfisher, fish eagle among others. Head and check in at your lodge and retire the day. Overnight in Bufallo safari lodge

Day 5 - Full Day Game drive – Kasenyi and Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth for the Tree climbing Lions 

Discover Queen Elizabeth National Park in the cool morning with an early game drive that exposes us to diverse animals. Possibility to see Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, Leopards more times in the evening, warthogs- Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many more species that are residents to this park are spotted along the Circuits as we drive along. This 9 Days Animals of the Savannah will also introduce to you to the avian life of Uganda. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland sports as we reach the Flamingoes in the salt lakes. Continue the drive towards the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth (Ishasha sector) very famous for the tree climbing lions. Overnight at Topi Lodge Ishasha

Day 6: - Transfer To Bwindi Impenetrable Forest With A Game Drive In Ishasha’s Tree-Climbing Lions – Evening Cultural experience with the Batwa pygmies

We will drive off in the adventurous vast savannah of the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth NP with Topis, the southern version of Elephants and hopefully with the lions high in the Fig tree branches. This is one of two areas in Africa where lions have the habit of regularly climbing trees to take a rest. Transfer on to Bwindi mountain gorillas through a beautiful drive taking you from the savanna via cultivated hills to the jungle covered mountains of Bwindi. (If we reach early we can do the walk and mix with the locals). Overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp / Buhoma Community Rest Camp

Day 7: Living with Mountain Gorillas - Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Have an early breakfast surrounded and overlooking the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas. We have reached a highlight of the safari as you will go gorilla trekking in a group with a specialized guide, walk through the fascinating jungle and spend one hour with the Mountain Gorillas. This Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterflies and plant species plus forest hog, forest Elephants, Statungas and Duikers. After the gorilla trek we drive through the neck of the forest via rolling hills cultivated with tea plantations and rainy forest as transfer to beautiful Lake Bunyonyi mostly known as the Switzerland of Africa due to her stunning beauty and endless views of her hills. In the evening we check in to a lake at 1840m above sea level. Here you can relax after the trek and even take a swim if it’s not too cold for you (the lake is free from bilharzia, hippos and crocodiles). Overnight at Lake Bunyonyi Eco resort

Day 8: -Transfer to Entebbe with possible guided walk around the botanical gardens or Shoebill Tracking

We start the day with a relaxed breakfast before starting the drive to Entebbe. With lunch stop on the way and getting some time to stretch the legs at the equator. Time allowing, we can have a guided nature walk along the Entebbe botanical garden for the different primates, birds and plant species.  Overnight at Papyrus guesthouse

Day 9 – Regional flight from Entebbe to Arusha with Uganda Airlines at 1400 Hours arriving at 1645 Hours – Transfer to Arusha or Karatu 

With a lazy breakfast, get ready for the air transfer to Kilimanjaro / Arusha where your guide will pick you and proceed to stay near the Ngorongoro highlands in Karatu for an overnight.  Overnight at Pazuri Lodge Arusha or Arusha Planet Lodge

Day 10: - Transfer to Explore the Serengeti National Park

Today we enter the Serengeti National Park from the less visited western gate, and you will marvel at the multitude of animal and bird life while journeying through this acacia-spotted savannah. Game sightings abound. We arrive at the in time to enjoy a respite from the dirt roads and heat of the day and enjoy a hearty lunch. Later on in the afternoon, as the animal kingdom comes alive, continue your search for the “Big 5″ – lion, leopard, buffalo, elephant and rhino – while taking in the vastness of the Serengeti plains heading for the lodge as the sun sets on this magnificent animal kingdom. Overnight at Into Wild Africa Tented Camp

Day 11: - Experience Serengeti National Park

After an early rise spend the morning exploring the vast Serengeti and we move from location to location in search of sometimes elusive game and visit a waterhole known for its Hippos and alligators. Visit the Masai Kopjes, airstrip area and then back to the heart of Serengeti. Overnight at Into Wild Africa Tented Camp

Day 12: - Serengeti National Park-Ngorongoro Crater

After an easy early rise we head towards Ngorongoro Crater, cited as ‘Africa’s Eden’ and the ’8th Natural Wonder of the World’. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder referred to as the world’s biggest wildlife zoo, due to its high density of resident game. In the afternoon we descend to the crater floor where you will be amazed by the sheer number and diversity of animals and birdlife. Standing in our pop up safari vehicle the viewing opportunities are endless, just deciding which way to look and what to look at, the choices are unlimited. The sheer excitement as we spot any of the big 5. Tonight as we relax we reflect on what has been a truly remarkable journey like no other experience and marvel in the wonders of the amazing wildlife East Africa has to offer. Day 13: - Transfer to Arusha / Kilimanjaro & flight

In the morning we make the drive to Arusha or Kilimanjaro where you are dropped off as we have reached the end of your safari adventure. Here you can plan to catch a flight on to other adventures or back to your home country full of memories to marvel over for a long time.
