Preparing for the Trek:

  • Obtain a gorilla trekking permit from the Uganda Wildlife Authority. The trekking permit goes for USD 800 whereas the Gorilla habituation permit goes for a whooping USD 1500.   • Choose a reputable tour operator or guide. Contact us for your safari today.
  • Pack appropriate clothing, including sturdy boots, long pants, and a waterproof jacket
  • Bring essential items like water, snacks, and a first-aid kit

How to get there

By road from Kampala to Bwindi, it is a 9 to 10 hours’ drive covering approximately 480 kms to Buhoma sector, 505 kms to Nkuringo sector, 483 kms to Rushaga sector and 468 kms to Ruhija sector.

There are daily scheduled domestic flights from Entebbe international airport or Kajjansi air field you either land in Kihihi airstrip in the northern part of Bwindi or Kisoro airstrip in the southern part of Bwindi

The Trek:

Your journey begins early in the morning, as you set out with your guide and trekking group to find the gorillas. The trek can range from 30 minutes to several hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. As you hike through the dense rainforest, keep an eye out for other wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and butterflies.

There are four sections for Gorilla trekking Buhoma in the north, Ruhija in the East, Nkuringo and Rushaga in the south.  There are accommodations for the 4 sections include Buhoma lodge, Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, Rushaga Gorilla Camp among others which you can choose from during your gorilla trekking adventure.
